For a vertical 9:16 edit
Use a 1080 × 1920 project as a practical starting point for vertical video. Keep essential text inward from the edges and leave room for the on-screen interface.
This guide focuses on vertical layouts. Facebook’s broader Reels publishing system also supports other video formats.
Check Facebook after Instagram
Even when you share the same video to both platforms, check the Facebook version. Account information, captions, interaction buttons and previews may occupy different parts of the frame.
Review three moments
- The first frame Make sure the hook is readable without relying on the outer edges.
- The longest subtitle Check its width and keep it above the lower interface area.
- The last frame Keep your logo and next step visible together.
Give the preview its own check
Review the cover or thumbnail and the feed preview available in your publishing flow. Keep the essential words together so a crop does not separate them.
Boosting the Reel or running an ad?
Check the Facebook Reels placement in Meta’s ad preview. Added buttons and disclaimers need room too. Use the guidance for your actual ad format and check every placement you select.
