Use the guides in the Shorts editor
When you move text or stickers in YouTube’s Shorts editor, visual guides show where elements such as likes, comments and the video description may appear.
Animated white lines also warn when an element is close to an edge where some devices may hide it. Reposition your text until it has room inside the guides.
Editing outside YouTube?
A 1080 × 1920 project gives you a full-height 9:16 layout. Keep your headline, subtitles and logo away from the outer edges, then review the imported video in YouTube.
Text already baked into the video needs to be repositioned in your original editor. Leave time for that final check.
Check the whole Short
- The hook Keep the first headline clear of the upper interface and side controls.
- The longest caption Check both lines, including any translated version.
- The final next step Keep your logo and call to action above the lower interface area.
Review the thumbnail too
Check the frame you choose as a thumbnail separately from playback in the Shorts feed. Keep its essential words together and inspect the preview in your publishing flow.
Using the video in an ad?
Google provides a vertical safe-zone overlay for video ads. Use it alongside the guidance for your campaign and ad format. For organic Shorts, use the Shorts editor’s visual guides and the actual app preview.
