THE CREATOR’S GUIDE

Instagram Reels safe zones

Give your headline room to breathe. Check the Reel, its captions and its cover before you publish.

Start with the full vertical frame

A 1080 × 1920 canvas gives you a 9:16 layout to work with. Keep the background full-screen and move important words inward from the edges.

For your working layout, allow space for navigation above, interaction buttons on the right and account details and captions below. Check the actual Instagram preview before posting.

Place these three things first

  1. Your opening hook Keep it away from the very top and the right-hand controls.
  2. Your subtitles Check the longest line. Move it above the lower interface area and keep it clear of your logo.
  3. Your final call to action Give it its own space so viewers can read it alongside the post caption.

Check the cover separately

A title that works in the full Reel may be cut off in another preview. Review your selected cover and the crops Instagram shows for your feed and profile.

Keep the cover’s main words together toward the centre, then adjust the crop in the app.

Before you cross-post

Preview the opening frame, longest subtitle and closing frame in Instagram. Repeat the check on TikTok, Facebook or Shorts if you reuse the video there.

Running a Reels ad?

Use Meta’s guidance for the exact ad format and placement. Image ads, video ads and ads with extra disclaimers can have different requirements. Check the preview with the actual call-to-action button.
